 Youth & Families Work

SWAY works alongside families in many ways, such as; signposting to and accessing support from other agencies, peer mentoring, setting up support networks within the community and providing Family Therapy sessions for the whole family.

SWAY works with children, young people and their families. SWAY aspires to develop individuals who can cope with whatever life throws at them, to have hopes and dreams for their future and the skills to make their aspirations a reality.

SWAY offer 1:1 mentoring for parents and young people. Some families have experiences and challenges that benefit from 1:1 support. Our mentoring helps families set goals that make for positive changes for themselves and each other.

In brief:

SWAY’S service works by:

  • Starting with the family’s own perspective

  • Providing relationship support for parents and children

  • Providing targeted, time limited interventions

  • Ensuring a multi-agency approach

SWAY’S family work aims are:

  • To pioneer, develop and grow our service building on existing links we have with children, young people and families through our youth ministry

  • Empowering emotional resilience within family units to cope with multiple, complex needs.

  • Encouraging a positive mindset so that families have good aspirations that affect the future of the family

  • Facilitating parenting skills that enable family members to lead and pursue new experiences within the family unit
