SWAY Enterprise Ltd

We are looking to re-open Chale Café, Isle of Wight. This great café in the centre of Chale has been closed for 8 months and South Wight Area Youth (SWAY) want to re-open it as soon as possible.

It is a wonderful café in the heart of the village and it’s perfectly placed to be enjoyed by the community, business people, passers-by, and cyclists. It will serve hot and cold drinks, cakes, light bites and a deli selection. SWAY are also planning to use the café for work experience and training on a range of topics as well as linking it to the youth and family work that they provide across the South Wight.

SWAY are applying for funds and grants to enable them to run the café  but to start up as soon as possible we need  to cover the set up costs and are asking for contributions of any amounts. All donations will go towards opening the café up and we will be acknowledging sponsors through a rewards system outlined below.

This café in its lovely setting overlooked by the Hoy monument along from St Catherine’s down can seat 30 customers inside and 40 in the gorgeous garden at the back. There are car parking spaces and a cycle repair station on site and dogs are always welcome. Barista coffees and a range of teas will be on offer as well as a selection of cold drinks. Table service will provide a range of light bites and desserts, cakes and ice cream and the deli counter means customers can take home something special to enjoy later. Vegan and gluten free options will be standard and other dietary requirements will be catered for as far as possible.  We want to offer simple good quality food as local as possible at a reasonable price.

We would like to offer training and work experience as well as adult education sessions and plan to have themed events and other activities in the café once we are open.

We believe the café has a bright future and has a special role in the village as an asset to the community. We would love you to support the opening and become a friend of the café. We are keen to involve all those who are interested in whatever way we can, so do get in touch and let us know what you fancy from this worthwhile venture. We will keep you updated with the progress and especially the opening date.

So now it’s over to you. We need to raise about £19,000 to cover the first two months staff and running costs together with stock purchases and marketing. Here are what your donations can pay for

- Rent (incl gas/electricity) cafe day £100

- Manager for cafe day £65

- A week of food £75

- 3 months of promotional material £100

- 1 week of travel to cafe to support volunteers getting back in to work £15

- supported learning day at the cafe and Courses £150
